Robert Turkavege, Sore Loser Or Desperate To Stay Relevant?

By now you’re probably aware of the fact that Robert Turkavege thought it might be a good idea to go and endorse state Senator Jeff Van Drew for congress. If you missed it InsiderNJ covered it here and here.

For those of you who forgot, Turkavege was a competitor in the CD2 Republican Primary won by Seth Grossman.

This is not the first time Turkavege whined since coming in fourth place out of four in that primary. Back in July Turkavege was still whining about losing that primary and went so far as to call on Grossman to drop out of the race. Back then I wrote:

Maybe Turkavege put out his statement to try and stay relevant, maybe he’s a sore loser, either way to paraphrase what Chis Christie said at the Morris County GOP Unity Breakfast, Turkavege, and other wishy-washy Republicans, have till Labor Day to fall in love with Seth Grossman.

Obviously, Turkavege didn’t take that advice, nor did he take the advice of JR Carman, the founder of New Jersey Constitutional Republicans, who released a video over a week ago talking about the importance of voting for all Republicans, moderate or conservative.

Turkavege, in his endorsement of Van Drew called Grossman “an embarrassment to the Republican Party.” In my not-so-humble opinion Turkavege is the embarrassment to the party. Turkavege is the one who has done nothing but whine about Grossman since losing the primary. Turkavege was whining during the primary. Remember, it was Turkavege who acted like a complete novice and failed to file the required paperwork with the county clerk to be placed in the Cumberland County GOP’s column on the primary election ballot and then had the balls to blame Cumberland County GOP Chairman Michael Testa for that mistake. And, that wasn’t the first time Turkavege had problems filing paperwork, he blamed traffic the first time.

I sense a pattern there, don’t get your paperwork filed on time, blame the traffic. Don’t file required paperwork, blame the chairman. Nothing is ever Turkavege’s fault! Lose a primary, call for the guy who beat you to drop out. That doesn’t work, endorse the Democrat.

I honestly can’t tell if Turkavege is simply a sore loser or if his endorsement is him trying to stay relevant. Either way, Mr. Turkavege should consider taking his Never-Trump self over to the Democratic Party.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview With Bunyan “Bunny” Mills, “…Officer Gant Began To Beat My Head In…”

By now regular readers of The Bob & Steve Show blog are familiar with the story of Bunyan Mills, a long-ago inmate at the Salem County Jail allegedly beaten unconscious by Salem County Sheriff candidate for Sheriff Bob Gant.

Mills was a call-in guest on The Bob & Steve Show this morning on Crusin’ 92.1 FM and he shared his story of the day he met Gant.

Mills told our listening audience, “I was escorted into a room by two correctional officers, it was a little unusual to me because I had seen them come get everybody else single, you know, one guard. Well, long story short, I was taken into a room, and soon as I entered that room the first thing I noticed, everybody’s shirt was off who was inside the room, it was two other, it was four security guards altogether. Two escorted me and two were in the room with their shirts off. As soon as I walked in the door I seen those guys, and uh, I was met by…I guess his name was correctional officer then, and officer Gant began to beat my head in…”

Democratic Sheriff Candidate’s Campaign Sign Spotted Near Confederate Battle Flag. Same Candidate Was Once Accused Of Beating Black Inmate.

Just when I thought I was done writing about the Salem County Sheriff race, a Gant for Sheriff sign is spotted only feet away from the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia.

As you can see in the photo the Gant for Sheriff sign and the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia are proudly displayed on a well-kept property. The property happens to be in the same town in which Gant lives.

I get it, Gant supporters are going to argue that he didn’t put the sign near that flag. But could you imagine if it were a Republican candidate’s sign near that flag? It would be national news!

This is interesting because, as regular readers of The Bob & Steve Show blog know, it was a post on social media by a guy named Walter Hudson, who obviously doesn’t like cops, that led to some digging into the background of Democratic sheriff candidate Bob Gant.

That digging led to my interview of Bunyan Mills. Mills did not hesitate when I asked if the rumor he was assaulted by Gant was true. He quickly said, “yes.” Mills said Gant beat him unconscious.

I spent a total of 29 minutes and 26 seconds on the phone with Mills. I believe him. If I didn’t believe him I would have never written the piece nor would I have invited him on our radio show. Unfortunately, I was in the hospital for last week’s show, so he didn’t call. If Mills calls in tomorrow you will hear the sincerity in his voice, just as I did.

In our last post about the Salem County Sheriff election readers were provided with a court document that clearly states Gant agreed not to seek re-employment with the County. I am not saying it proves Mills was beaten unconscious by Gant, but I am saying that at the very least it demonstrates Gant was no angel.

Maybe, just maybe, Walter Hudson was onto something when he wrote, “Over the years Gant have not been fair to black people.” Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. It’s now up to Salem County voters to decide.
