Donuts For Breakfast On The Radio

Elected officials will join radio show co-hosts at local bakery

VINELAND – The Bob & Steve Show, a talk radio program co-hosted by former Cumberland County Republican Chairman Bob Greco and veteran South Jersey GOP political operative Steve Kush will award Crust N Krumbs Bakery of Vineland with a plaque for winning the radio show’s first ever South Jersey Donut Bakery Review. The show will be broadcast live from Crust N Krumbs Bakery on Crusin’ 92.1FM from 8:00AM – 10:00AM Saturday.

Joining The Bob & Steve Show co-hosts and awarding commendations and proclamations of their own to Crust N Krumbs Bakery will be US Congressman Jeff Van Drew, state Senator Michael Testa, Assemblymen Antwan McClellan and Erik Simonsen, Cumberland County Commissioner Doug Albrecht and Vineland City Councilman Paul Spinelli.

Over the last several weeks as part of the weekly talk radio program Greco and Kush were joined by Barrington GOP municipal Chairman Bob DelVecchio, who suggested the segment and offered to provide the donuts each week, and the show’s producer Norm Donohue in rating donuts on a scale of 1 to 10. Donuts from bakeries in Camden County, Gloucester County, Cumberland County and Cape May County were reviewed. The review was a way to promote local businesses during the pandemic.

“We were happy to do our part to help promote local businesses in what has been a difficult time for mom-and-pop shops,” Bob Greco commented. “Especially during these difficult times when government is strangling small business it was our way to help. At The Bob & Steve Show we understand the importance of small business. Congratulations to Crust N Krumbs on a job well done. And, congratulations to all we reviewed for baking quality products.”

“Never in our wildest dreams did we think a weekly review of donuts would attract so much attention. Folks who listen to WVLT called and emailed every week with suggestions of bakeries to review. We were happy to do our part to help steer extra customers to local businesses during what are very difficult times for small businesses,” Steve Kush said.

PRESS RELEASE: Van Drew Draws a Line in the Sand: Receiving Death Threats from Local Media Member is Despicable and Has No Place in Our Society

Press Release.jpg

It’s being reported that Congressman Jeff Van Drew has received threats against him and his family from a member of the New Jersey press. We received the campaign’s press release on the matter within the last hour. Following is the release and audio of the “alleged” threats:

United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew released the audio of a death threat Ocean City columnist John McCall, a longtime member of the New Jersey Press Association, recently left on his home phone while he in Washington and blasted the Ocean City Sentinel for publishing columns, before and after, in which McCall insinuates Van Drew should be executed for treason, vividly describes invading and destroying his home, and graphically ponders what it would be like to sexually assault his wife over the hood of her car.

“For far too long calls for violence have gone unchallenged, but today, right here in Cape May County we are drawing a line in the sand. You can come after me with loud words and threats, but if anyone, let alone a member of the Press, thinks they can threaten my wife and my family they’ve got another thing coming,” said Van Drew. “When I was asked to run for office a long time ago, I did it to make sure my neighbors always had someone looking out for them, whether I was representing them at town hall, in Trenton or now Washington. I am calling on the New Jersey Press Association and the Ocean City Sentinel to forcefully denounce and condemn the threats McCall made against me and my family, to immediately retract his hate-filled editorials, and issue a public apology to my family - until then any and all legal options remain on the table.”

Congressman Van Drew was joined by Cape May County Sheriff Bob Nolan who underscored the seriousness of threats like these.

“As Sheriff it is my sworn duty to ensure the safety of everyone who lives in, works in, or visits Cape May County,” added Nolan. “Congressman Van Drew didn’t offer himself or his family up for public service to be a target of threats or violence by anyone, let alone a newspaper columnist. The Cape May County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats seriously and political violence of any kind will not be tolerated.”

Background & Sources

  1. Audio of Voicemail from McCall (February 28, 2020 - 8:03pm)

Recording from 0:55 to 1:43:  “I would swear to your demise as a politician and I believe that you personally are a degenerate. As a member of the New Jersey Press Association, I will do everything in my power to ensure that you are deposed if not DEAD. Anything I can do to basically get you out of office, I will do. You are a TRAITOR Jeff Van Drew and you deserve the fate of all TRAITORS.

  2. Ocean City Sentinel: Van Drew’s Nightmare...Police Come Calling

    (Page A8 - March 10, 2021)

“Two Ocean City police officers showed up at our door last week, dispatched by Congressman Jeff Van Drew, purportedly fearing for his life. Mini-Trump’s pretense of feeling threatened so that he could further harass my family was a calculated reaction to a phone message I left on his answering machine. My act was instigated by his own countless intrusions into our home by email and phone touting the anti-American agenda of his fellow Republican extremists and the disgraced, deposed traitor Donald Trump...Now he claims to be scared shitless when the incendiary language of his mentor is turned against him...This is why police don’t like him. These we seemed to agree, are mini-Trump’s political methods, not mine, far more threatening to the welfare of American citizens then a phone call to some pissant politician...If I was a cop, I’d tell Van Drew to go hang.

“Van Drew’s mentor has said it’s cool to greet women by grabbing them between the legs. Should we test the acceptability of this remark and get the direct response of a prominent GOP female by greeting Van Drew’s wife with the Republican high-five, lifting her over the hood of her car and objectively recording her physical reaction to the tickle when she lands?”

“Now mini-Trump whimpers when loyal Americans shoot back, disclose his lies, and hold him accountable for his hate-mongering treason. And as a traitor, he has forfeit his right to protection under the law. Know this V.D.: It doesn’t stop here... God save you.”

    3.                  Ocean City Sentinel: Hold Trump Loyalist Officials Accountable

    (January 13, 2021)

“Accountability is all-important in politics. Like all Trump loyalists, Van Drew and DeVlieger are guilty of subverting the peaceful and equitable functioning of our government. This is not just a moral failing.  This is treason. And the penalty for treason is execution. That applies to the great and the small, to presidents, congressmen and smalltown councilmen. It’s the trickle down theory of responsibility.”

“Van Drew recently employed a Trumplike dismissive by saying serious, populous calls for him to resign were “silly.” Should conscientious critics take a cue from the armed Republican rioters, storm his house, smash everything, violate his family, and walk away laughing? Would that be silly?”

“Joe Biden said during the presidential campaign that we are in a battle for the soul of the nation. The battle continues. As democratic defenders of the Republic, facing enemies with no respect for our electoral process or the truth, we are forced to ponder Thomas Jefferson’s grim directive that, for the good of our nation, the tree of liberty must be refreshed with the blood of tyrants and traitors.”

Get The Hell Out From Behind Your Keyboards!

We want you.jpg

Since the primary ended I see many Republicans complaining on social media. On one county party Facebook page I saw a guy wrote in response to an event the local GOP had, “Can I go to the poll…to vote in November. What are you doing about it. Don’t all answer at once.”

Of course, no one ever saw the commenter at a party event, not phone banks, not door knocking, nothing – not even any of the organization’s free events. Yet this person had the nerve to ask what the organization is doing about it.

If that isn’t bad enough there are still people complaining and whining and crying about the party bosses and the results of the GOP Senate primary. Many of these people are rarely, if ever, seen at party events or volunteering for even their municipal candidates. But they have plenty to complain about.

Let’s first address the “party bosses” crap. If you don’t like the way your county party is being run then get up off your ass and do something about it. The first step is to become a committee person. Get the signatures, get on the ballot and win the election for committee person during the primary. You better recruit others who think like you to do the same. It is the committee people who elect the county chairs. Committee people are the frontlines in protecting our representative form of government. Committee people are representatives of their respective political parties.

Until such a time comes as you get your crap together and become a committee person while getting others elected with you – work with what you have. Volunteer and help get Republican voters to vote! I get it, you wanted a different Senate candidate. It didn’t happen. Get over it. I wasn’t a Hirsh Singh supporter but if he won I would be supporting him now. Why? Because all the candidates in the GOP primary are better than Cory Booker. Stop being butt hurt and get to work!

If that’s not good enough then consider this: In 2018 Bob and I both preferred former Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi in the Republican CD2 primary, I even worked for Fiocchi. Did Bob and I whine about losing the primary? No! We supported the winner of that primary, Seth Grossman. Grossman was the guest on our first radio show and many other shows during the general election campaign. We did the right thing!

Now, let’s address moronic questions like, “Can I go to the poll…to vote in November. What are you doing about it. Don’t all answer at once.”

Yes, you can go to the poll in November, but you have to vote by provisional ballot. Republicans didn’t make it that way, Governor Phil Murphy did. Maybe if certain Republicans weren’t so busy not voting for Kim Guadagno things would be different today.

What is being done about it is the state party and the national party have joined the re-election campaign of President Donald Trump in suing to top Governor Phil Murphy from sending over 6 million vote-by-mail ballots out for the general election.

I don’t know if they will win their lawsuit, but if we are smart, as a party, we will work under the assumption the suit will not be won. We will get to work figuring out how to get our voters to vote. It doesn’t matter how they vote, so long as they vote.

So rather than asking stupid questions, why don’t you get up from behind your keyboard and do something?

We have three congressional districts in South Jersey. I guarantee every one of our Republican candidates, Claire Gustafson (CD1). Congressman Jeff Van Drew (CD2) and David Richter (CD3) will be running phone banks and likely literature drops too.

Get out from behind your keyboards and volunteer at their phone banks.

The county parties will be running phone banks. Join them.

Every county has freeholder candidates. Volunteer to help your freeholder candidates. If your town has a race volunteer to help your municipal candidates.

Trust me, sitting behind your keyboards and posting things is not going to help win this election for anyone. Stupid questions and accusations that the Republican party, or Republican candidates, aren’t doing anything helps no one.

Never Trumper Republicans who don’t vote hurt the entire GOP column. Whining about the Senate primary hurts the entire column. Not voting for a candidate because you disagree on a single issue hurts the entire column.

This election is too important to let your hurt feelings ruin the entire ticket. The thing to remember is any candidate in the Republican column is better than every candidate in the Democratic column. Vote the column, by mail, dropping your ballot in a box or by provisional ballot, but vote the column.

As for me, I’ll find the time to walk my neighborhood because that’s what committee people are supposed to do. I’ll help my mayoral candidate. I’ll do some phone banking even though I hate it.

All I ask is that you get up off your ass and do something. Maybe I’ll see you at a phone bank.
