Only In Camco; Arthur Barclay Met With George Norcross, Called It “Business As Usual”

I stopped stalking former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay’s Facebook page months ago. I simply assumed members of the press stopped caring. I was wrong.

Thanks to a Tweet this afternoon by Politico.com reporter Matt Friedman, we now know that “George Norcross and Camden’s new police chief recently met with Arthur Barclay…”

Apparently, back on August 7 Barclay posted on social media about the meeting and said “Business as usual.. Had a great meeting today. Got a few things working in the pipeline..”:

Friedman goes on to explain the meeting “…appears to have taken place about a month before Barclay turned up to be appointed to Camden’s parking authority…” and, to be fair, Friedman also commented that “…Norcross says he was unaware of the appointment and disagrees with it.”

As you can see above the Camden County spokesman said the police chief was there for lunch. Of course, those of us who have been around long enough to remember when the guy currently serving as county spokesman lied about the Cherry Hill mayor being on a snowplow wonder why anyone in the press would believe a word that comes out of the spokesman’s mouth.

Maybe it’s time Camden County Democrats answer the questions CCGOP Chairman Rich Ambrosino asked yesterday, “Will Camden County Democrats ever stop protecting Arthur Barclay? Was all the #MeToo and #BelieveWomen stuff just rhetoric?”

You can bet there’s going to be more on the Arthur Barclay saga. Stay tuned!

Arthur Barclay Is Smarter Than Al Bundy

Arthur Barclay

Arthur Barclay

Two star high school athletes. One fictional, Al Bundy. One real, Arthur Barclay. One played football, the other basketball. One scored four touchdowns in a single game, the 1966 Chicago City Championship game, the other scored 1,259 points in his high school career and was recognized in 2013 by inclusion in the South Jersey Basketball Hall of Fame.

Bundy turned his high school athletic stardom into nothing.

Arthur Barclay managed to parlay his high school athletic stardom into a position on Camden’s City Council, a seat in New Jersey’s State Assembly, two different jobs with Camden County and coming soon, an appointment as a Commissioner on the Parking Authority of the City of Camden.

That’s right, former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay who resigned from the Assembly for “health reasons” after being arrested for simple assault during a domestic incident and was given a new county job and a pay raise since resigning is now getting appointed to the City Parking Authority. It’s on page 3 of the Camden City Council agenda for all to see:

I don’t know how a guy who admitted to punching his girlfriend and resigned a seat in New Jersey’s Assembly for “health reasons” gets shifted to a new county job and a cost of living pay raise and is now getting appointed to an Authority. Either the Camden County Democrats are fiercely loyal or Barclay has some dirt on someone.

Whatever the case, obviously Arthur Barclay is smarter than Al Bundy.

PRESS RELEASE: CCGOP Chairman Ambrosino Calls On Camden City Council Not To Move Forward With Barclay Appointment

Press Release.jpg

Camden County GOP Chairman Rich Ambrosino called on Camden City Council to “do the right thing” and not appoint former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay to the City Parking Authority. Ambrosino’s press release follows:

HADDON HEIGHTS – According to the Camden City Council Agenda for the regular meeting scheduled for September 10 former Assemblyman Arthur Barclay, who resigned from the Assembly for “health reasons” after being arrested for simple assault during a domestic incident, is being appointed “to serve as Commissioner to the Parking Authority of the City of Camden.”

“A transfer to a new job, a pay raise and now an appointment to the Camden Parking Authority. It appears Arthur Barclay has put the health issues that forced him to resign from the Assembly behind him,” Camden County Republican Chairman Rich Ambrosino said. “He should be thrilled his health has apparently greatly improved.”

“Health issues aside, there is no way Camden City Council should vote yes on this appointment,” Ambrosino stated. “Arthur Barclay admitted to punching his girlfriend, he’s already been given a new job and a pay raise, it’s time to stop rewarding him for what even Congressman Norcross said ‘is unacceptable under any circumstances.’ If they won’t listen to me, listen to the congressman from their own party.”

Ambrosino asked, “Will Camden County Democrats ever stop protecting Arthur Barclay? Was all the #MeToo and #BelieveWomen stuff just rhetoric?”

“Barclay getting a new job and a pay raise demonstrates the inability of County Democrats to do the right thing.” Ambrosino said, “I am hopeful City Democrats will do the right thing and deny Barclay’s appointment to the Parking Authority.”
