What Happened To Sticks And Stones?

No way in Hell could TV shows like “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons” and to a lesser extent “Sanford and Son” be on the air today.

Archie Bunker has frequently been referred to as a “lovable bigot,” George Jefferson often called Helen and Tom Willis zebra because she was black and he was white and he referred to Tom as honky. And, Fred Sanford always had some choice words for his neighbor Julio often telling him to go back to Puerto Rico when the guy was from New York.

Forget about Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd trying to make one of my favorite Christmas Season movies, “Trading Places,” today. That movie would offend everyone, even people who smoke Kools.

Fast forward to today, or yesterday, and it seems like the entire state of New Jersey is freaking out because talk radio co-hosts Dennis and Judi called Attorney General Gurbir Grewal “turban man.”

Was it a good joke? I didn’t laugh. Was it in poor taste? Probably. Lots of jokes are in poor taste.

For emphasis, I’ll say it again: IT WAS A JOKE!

It does not make Dennis and Judi guilty of being xenophobes as our governor suggested in a statement he issued on the topic. What it makes them guilty of is being politically incorrect. They are guilty of making a joke that really wasn’t funny.

I don’t write this in defense of Dennis and Judi, I don’t know them, never met them, I write because people are just too sensitive.

When I was growing up we were taught, “sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.” Archie Bunker, George Jefferson and Fred Sanford all talked trash about anyone they felt like talking trash about. The beloved television series MASH even had a cross dresser and a guy nicknamed “spearchucker.” And, every single one of these shows can be seen on late night cable TV to this day! No one has been caused physical pain by these shows. Why? Because they are funny. If any of these shows have caused you mental anguish then you need to grow a thicker skin.

Because my great grandfather on my dad’s side was a native of Poland I hear dumb Polack jokes to this day. My co-host, Bob Greco, being of Italian heritage hears a lot of jokes about his ethnicity. You don’t hear us crying, quite the opposite, we laugh at the funny jokes.

Why do Bob and I not get upset over jokes about our heritage? Because our mothers raised us not to be big babies. They raised us to have thick skins. They taught us that names will never hurt us. Given the number of people he and I pissed off over the years, and the even bigger number who dislike us, it’s probably a good thing our mothers raised us to be tough.

To all the mothers out there who raised their kids to be tough and have thick skins, we say “thank you.” To everyone else – grow up! And, finally, to Dennis and Judi, thanks for giving me something to post on the blog today.

Three Congressmen Held A Press Conference To Complain President Trump Is Doing Exactly What He Said He Would Do

Apparently, Congressmen Bill Pascrell Jr., Frank Pallone Jr., and Donald Payne Jr. held a press conference to complain the Trump administration is “continuing to withhold almost $6 million in law enforcement grants.”

Well, duh, you were warned this would happen to “sanctuary cities and states.” Don’t take our word for it, read it here, here and here.

Now the congressmen want to complain something happened that they were told was going to happen? Sounds like more fake Democratic outrage.

Congressman Pascrell Jr. said at the press conference, “No one should ever play politics with our law enforcement, but this is exactly what Donald Trump and [Attorney General] Jeff Sessions are doing.”

But, that’s exactly what “sanctuary cities and states” are doing, playing politics with law enforcement. The “sanctuary” jurisdictions make us all less safe. Why have these congressmen not complained about “sanctuary cities and states” not obeying the law, in essence playing politics with law enforcement?

So, no Mr. Pascrell, you and your sanctuary loving friends are the ones playing politics with law enforcement.

Congressman Payne Jr. upped the ante complaining, “By forcing a false choice between abandoning our immigrant community or receiving federal law enforcement grants, the Trump administration has hurt every single New Jerseyan.”

Payne Jr. is plain wrong, there is no false choice, either follow the rules or don’t and “sanctuary cities and states” choose not to follow the rules. As children we are taught that if you don’t follow the rules you get punished. In other words, don’t complain if you get punished for breaking the rules. Especially if you were repeatedly warned of the consequences.

Making the claim the immigrant community is being abandoned is bogus. My legal immigrant neighbor and her children are doing just fine. By all appearances my neighbor’s illegal immigrant boyfriend is doing pretty good too, he was even arrested for attacking someone with a knife two years ago, held in a county jail in south Jersey, released and he’s still here, ILLEGALLY. My legal immigrant landlord is doing pretty good too, he owns and rents out 8 different homes.

Please Mr. Payne, spare me the immigrant community is being abandoned line because they aren’t.

Basically, the press conference held by Congressmen Bill Pascrell Jr., Frank Pallone Jr., and Donald Payne Jr. the other day can be summed up as they asked why Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions are doing exactly what they said they would do and the answer is for the congressmen to tell their sanctuary loving friends to follow the rules.

State Senator Loretta Weinberg Joins The Ranks Of Bob Menendez Loving Hypocrites

In a story New Jersey’s Democrats don’t want to let go, today State Senator Loretta Weinberg joined the ranks of Menendez Loving Hypocrites when she issued a statement regarding Republican senatorial candidate Bob Hugin and Princeton’s eating clubs.

Regurgitating more of the same anti-Hugin garbage Senator Weinberg said in her statement, “The revelation that U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin fought to exclude women from Princeton’s prominent eating clubs should make residents of New Jersey, men and women alike, angry.”

She said a bunch of other stuff too, all proving that with age does not come wisdom. Or perhaps it simply proves she forgot about the guy she supports, Bob Menendez, scandalous past and that she told a reporter, “It’s a distraction.” Sure, allegedly having sex with under-aged prostitutes in the Dominican Republic was “distracting.”

At least one of the prostitutes who claimed she had sex with Menendez recanted, then again, the prostitute who recanted was not the original prostitute to make the claim according to a published report. So, maybe Weinberg is confused. Who knows?

One fact about Menendez and his scandalous past is clear: Even his own lawyers conceded the fact that Bob Menendez helped bring Salomen Melgen’s girlfriends into the country.

Of course, Loretta Weinberg was silent on the issue of Menendez helping bring a dirty old man’s sugar babies into the country and she still chooses to ignore that fact. She also chooses to ignore that Menendez was once anti-gay rights when he cast his vote for the Defense of Marriage Act. Basically, Weinberg has joined the ranks of the only Democrats can change their views crowd.
