NJGOP Chairman: NJ Democrat Leaders Comfort With Corruption Is Frightening

For Immediate Release

Trenton, NJ - Yesterday, Governor Phil Murphy defended the hiring of a former official who was convicted and jailed for taking a bribe. He said, the Department of Education's Office employee was "doing a heck of a job".  Tomorrow, disgraced U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, who was admonished by a bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee for his corrupt behavior, will keynote a New Jersey Democratic State Party event being attended by Murphy and Menendez’s running mates Mikie Sherrill, Tom Malinowski, Andy Kim and other Democrat leaders around the state.

NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt offered the following comment:

"At a time when Democrats nationally are pining to own the government ethics narrative, New Jersey's Democratic leadership is showing an alarming affinity for abandoning it.  Phil Murphy has made it clear that he is fine filling his administration with people who were jailed for taking bribes. Moreover, Democrats from around the State are embracing corrupt Senator Bob Menendez despite his being found guilty by his own colleagues of violating federal law.

"New Jersey has a chance to vote out Menendez in November, but I think we need to support Assemblywoman Schepisi's proposal to ban from working in public office, people who breached the public’s trust and were convicted of corruption."

PRESS RELEASE: NJGOP Chairman Calls On Kim To Take Down Ad

NJGOP Chairman Calls On Kim To Take Down Ad

Press Release.jpg

Trenton, NJ - Earlier today, independent fact checkers at the Washington Post determined that Andy Kim's latest campaign ad includes false claims about Kim's resume.

The Washington Post reported that Andy Kim engaged in “a classic case of resume puffery”, oversold “his bipartisan credentials”, and stretched “his resume to elastic extremes”.

This is not the first time Andy Kim has been caught lying on the campaign trail. Earlier this year, Kim embellished his resume when he claimed to have served as a “strategic advisor” to Generals David Petraeus and John Allen in Afghanistan back in early 2011 but, later in 2011, confessed to being a simple “Notetaker.”

Kim was forced to change the language on his website after the truth regarding his position was revealed.

"Once again, Andy Kim was caught red handed trying to fool voters in South Jersey. Integrity dictates that he pull his ad from the air immediately and replace it with an apology," said NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt. "If Kim isn't comfortable running on his true, professional experiences, then perhaps he’s figured out for himself that he’s not qualified to serve in Congress."

NJGOP Launches Micro-Site/Digital Ad Campaign Revealing The Real Mikie Sherrill

Trenton, NJ - Today, the New Jersey Republican State Committee launched the website NJGOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt offered the following comments on the new website:

"Voters in North Jersey deserve to know the truth about Mikie Sherrill and the liberal and corrupt company she keeps.  People who get to know her beyond her sleek campaign ads need to know that she is funded by the most liberal wing of the Democratic Party.

"Phil Murphy, New Jersey’s most liberal governor - ever- is one of her loudest cheerleaders. The man who raised your taxes by over a billion dollars for items like legal aid for illegal immigrants and making New Jersey a Sanctuary State wants to send the same kind of extreme, liberal agenda To Washington, in the form of Mikie Sherrill.

"She even stands proudly with corrupt Senator Bob Menendez, while touting her service as a former federal prosecutor.  This is the same Bob Menendez who was admonished by a bi-partisan panel of US Senators for his illegal and unethical acts.  If she thinks taking lavish gifts from criminal donors in exchange for government favors is appropriate, then voters in North Jersey need to know that."
