Gubernatorial Primary Heats Up A Little

Hirsh Singh

Hirsh Singh

I thought about making the headline for this post: Ciattarelli Campaign Hits A Nerve.

No doubt the Ciattarelli campaign has upset Hirsh Sing and his supporters with a mailer that calls Singh out on issues such as the fact he doesn’t pay property taxes and has publicly praised former President Barak Obama.

Fraud Mailer.jpg

Looks to me that everything in the mailer is true, I’ve been chucking many of these grenades at Singh since running former Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi’s 2018 congressional campaign – you know the campaign in which the establishment Singh claims to be against heavily backed him.

None of that matters to Singh. He wants to get by screaming “MAGA” and “Trump” and thinks as long as he keeps doing that folks will think he’s the real conservative and no one should challenge him.

Singh got challenged by way of a Ciattarelli campaign mailer. The most recent Ciattarelli mailer so infuriated Singh that he went on social media to argue with folks.

Argue.jpg

“What do you call this Jack mailer?” Asking the question in response to the social media post implies Singh is calling the mailer “dirty tricks.” Singh then follows that question with, “At least I’m honest.” An obvious attempt at calling Ciattarelli a liar, it doesn’t matter to Singh that the information in the mailer is true.

I’m not going to argue with Singh’s “At least I’m honest” comment and simply remind readers that it was Hirsh Singh who, in 2018, led Republicans to believe he could self-fund when he couldn’t. Don’t take my word for it, read about it in the New Jersey Globe here.

I guess a lot of folks were talking about the most recent Ciattarelli campaign mailer because, not only did Singh take to social media to argue with folks about it, he also shared a post from his number one internet troll, the retired landscaper, out-of-work actor:

Singh-LieAccuse.JPG

I’m not going to defend Chris Russell, he’s a big boy and can defend himself, plus the dude runs like 5,000 miles a week, so I’m fairly certain he’s in better shape than Rullo. You know who I’d bet on.

I will take issue with the claim that Russell “is mailing lies about Hirsh Singh. For fun, I’ll go from the bottom up.

“Attacks women on social media.” Well, Singh did once tweet that he had “99 problems and they’re all bitches.” So, that point is TRUE.

99 bitches.PNG

“Hirsh publicly praised and supported Obama.” This one is too easy, I’ve used Singh’s Obama Cairo speech quote in at least a half dozen press releases for two former clients. The point is TRUE.

Singh Obama.JPG

“Hirsh has financial ties to Phil Murphy and Hillary Clinton.” That point on the mailer states that “Singh’s largest campaign donor is a major donor to liberal Democrats. Again, the point is TRUE.

While the point is true, I would have probably gone a different route and pointed out that the Singh family made at least $35,828,281 during the Obama years. It’s true, I wrote a piece about it last year (read it here).

Oddly, the Singh family government gravy train dropped when President Trump took office. There’s a nice graph showing that in the piece I wrote.

Graph.jpg

The final point, really the first, “Hirsh pays zero in property taxes.” The point is TRUE.

Hirsh Singh lives at home with his mommy and daddy. He obviously does not pay property taxes. I suspect that means he also doesn’t pay for electricity, gas, internet, cable TV and quite possibly doesn’t pay for his own cell phone or car insurance.

I could be wrong, but I would think folks might want a governor who has faced some of the struggle they themselves faced, at the very least someone who has actually paid a utility bill once in their life.

The shame of it all is Singh could have had a bright political future but instead chooses to keep running for offices beyond his reach and to accuse people of lying about him when they are obviously telling the truth.

The primary is June 8, choose wisely folks. And, hopefully someone will remind me to wish Singh a happy anniversary on winning a beauty contest at the end of the month:

Apparently, Others Are Upset With The Partisanship Being Displayed In Non-Partisan Haddonfield

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

I received an email from “Defend Haddonfield!” a group I never heard of. Mostly, I think they wanted me to know they are not fans of Haddonfield Commissioner Colleen Bezich. I’m guessing they reached out probably because they read this morning’s Bob & Steve Show blog post.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Apparently, the folks over at Defend Haddonfield! issued a press release calling on Bezich to resign.

I decided to check out Defend Haddonfield!’s website. I have to admit I do not like the fact there is no paid for disclaimer on the website. It makes them appear shady. But, it’s like a train wreck, you know it’s going to be ugly but you have to look. So, I looked.

It appears this group sent a mailer (click here to view), the kind of mailer that makes political operatives with reputations for running nasty campaigns, like me, proud. Well, except for the part that mentions Bezich’s father, as listeners of the radio show know I believe family should be left out of campaigns unless said family member injects themself. Anyway, while sensationalized, the mailer appears to be truthful. The organization footnoted everything to back up their claims. And, it is 100% true that after Bezich won the special election to get on the Boro Commission the Camden County Democrats did offer praise for Bezich.

Apparently, Bezich did not like the Defend Haddonfield! mailer because, as I learned from their website, she cut a Facebook video to call the mailer “lies.” The fact that she wears a mask, outside, in her own backyard, shows me she’s the type of “woke” politician I wouldn’t vote for, so I’m not even going to bother arguing about what is or isn’t true. Besides, as I was considering looking at what is true and isn’t, I checked the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) website and she did indeed accept money from folks connected to George Norcross in her 2019 campaign. So, at least that part of the mailer is true!

So, I guess all that’s left to say is exactly what I said in this morning’s blog post: “It’s your choice Haddonfield, let South Jersey’s political machine be part of your government or throw the machine out.” Go to the polls tomorrow and do the right thing!

South Jersey Political Machine Is Putting The Partisan In Non-Partisan Haddonfield

bigstock-Handsome-young-man-throwing-mo-50855615.jpg

I got a call Thursday last week from a friend in Haddonfield about a mailer they received that was paid for by Committee for Responsible Governance. I told the caller to email me a picture of the piece and I would write about it Monday.

My friend never sent me the picture of the piece probably because Politico’s Matt Friedman wrote a piece about dark money working its way into Collingswood’s non-partisan election tomorrow. He does an excellent job connecting the dots to show how the dark money group Committee for Responsible Governance is connected to South Jersey Democrat power broker George Norcross by way of a guy named Dennis Culnan.

It was a well-written piece and it makes sense that Machine Democrat and Progressive Democrat dark money would work its way into Collingswood. It is the town the progressives managed to win county committee in to take over the town’s committee.

What jumped out at me, and probably my friend, was the brief mention of Haddonfield in the piece. Haddonfield is another town with non-partisan elections taking place tomorrow in Camden County.

The residents of Haddonfield were proud of their non-partisan elections. The town has held non-partisan elections since 1913, two years after the Walsh Act was passed giving municipalities the power to establish non-partisan elections.

The town had a tradition of not using campaign signs. Folks in Haddonfield were proud of the unwritten no signs rule. The local Patch in 2013 released a video to show voters what color ribbon each candidate was using. The Philadelphia Inquirer in 2009 published a piece about the tradition of ribbons in lieu of signs.

Because of the pride in their non-partisan elections, dark money in Haddonfield is big news!

And, who is the dark money (connected to George Norcross) backing in Haddonfield? According to Politico, incumbent Commissioner Colleen Bezich:

“Culnan Sr.’s nonprofit has not disclosed how much it’s spent and where, but it’s currently active in at least one other town, nearby Haddonfield, where it recently issued a mailer in support of Commissioner Colleen Bezich.”

It is my understanding that Bezich has stated she is not part of the Camden County Democrat Machine. I am not sure I believe that considering she is an elected member of the Camden County Democratic Committee.

Haddonfield Committee.JPG

On top of that Bezich, by her own admission, is the person responsible for breaking the long-standing no campaign sign tradition in Haddonfield.

Ribbons.jpg

So, to all the folks in Haddonfield complaining about your municipal elections becoming partisan you might want to consider it was Colleen Bezich who decided it was time to end the unwritten no campaign sign rule. By campaigning for and getting elected to the Democratic County Committee she by definition is a politician and a part of South Jersey’s political machine – so much so she is being supported by “one of [George] Norcross's closest advisers and friends.”

You don’t have to take my word for it, here’s a screenshot from the Politico article:

Tomorrow is Election Day! It’s your choice Haddonfield, let South Jersey’s political machine be part of your government or throw the machine out.
