Republican candidate in CD1, Claire Gustafson, launched her first digital campaign ad today. Her press release follows, as does the ad:

Borrowing a campaign slogan from Shirley Chisholm’s 1968 congressional campaign Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s First Congressional District, Claire Gustafson, launched a video titled “Unbought, Unbossed” today as part of her digital advertising campaign.

“It’s been 100 years since women won the right to vote and in the First Congressional District it’s still the good old boys’ network of the South Jersey political cartel that decided who our congressman is.” Claire Gustafson said, “Considering no woman has ever been elected to Congress in this district it makes sense that I borrowed the campaign slogan of a trailblazer like Shirley Chisholm for our campaign ads.”

“When she announced her campaign for President in 1972 Chisholm said, ‘I am not the candidate of any political bosses or fat cats or special interests,’ the same is true of my campaign, it’s powered by grassroots supporters and grassroots donors.” Gustafson continued, “And, like I say in the ad, I don’t have a political boss for a big brother. Unlike Donald Norcross, I’m unbought and unbossed.”

“I look forward to a spirited rest of the campaign and will continue to lay out the differences between Donald Norcross’s record in our district and my vision for our district,” Gustafson said.
