Perhaps The Murphys Should Consider Staying Home

Phil Murphy

Phil Murphy

Last week, after video of a woman telling Governor Phil Murphy he’s “such a dick” surfaced, I took some heat for a blog post it shouldn’t have happened because family is off limits.

In that post I explained that I’ve been doing this for a long time and that I remembered we always operated under certain rules. I wrote, in part:

I also remember there were certain rules. Among those rules were you never went to a candidate’s home and you always left family out of it. Of course, there were (and are) exceptions to every rule. For example, if a family member injected themselves into a campaign then they got what they asked for.

Well, the Murphy family has injected themselves into the situation. Art Gallagher over at More Monmouth Musings reported that the Murphy’s dined out at a Long Branch restaurant and their son wore a baseball cap with “STAY THE FUCK HOME” printed on it.

Photo “borrowed” from More Monmouth Musings. Hopefully they don’t mind.

I can’t explain why Governor and Mrs. Murphy would pose for a photo with someone wearing a “STAY THE FUCK HOME” hat. I don’t know why they thought it would be a good idea to allow their son to wear that hat in a photo.

What I do know is when it comes to Murphy — family has taken themselves off limits.

I think what really angers me is I actually felt a little bit sorry for Tammy Murphy when the woman decided to curse her husband out. For the first time in two and a half years of doing a radio show and blogging I sorta kinda stuck up for Murphy, but not any more.

I imagined how my mother would feel if some random Hirsh Singh supporter spotted me at a restaurant and she had to listen to them curse me out for all the trash I talk about the boy who lives with his parents and thinks he can be governor. That wouldn’t be fair to my mother and I didn’t think it was fair for Mrs. Murphy to hear her son get cursed at when he isn’t a public figure and hadn’t injected himself into anything.

Admittedly, my family wouldn’t have put up with that stuff. Fists, and probably plates, food and furniture would have been flying.

Unfortunately, for the Murphy’s because they posed for a stupid photo they have injected themselves into the debate and are no longer off limits.

The Murphy family may want to take their own advice and stay the fuck home!

Believe Women, But Not Men, Especially When Hiring A Democrat Mayor’s Son In Camden County

Stratford Mayor Josh Keenan

Stratford Mayor Josh Keenan

Imagine that you once cost your employer $125,000 because your employer had to settle a lawsuit after you allegedly sexually harassed a male coworker. Imagine that eight years before that you sued the same employer and won a $75,000 settlement. Imagine that 3 years after costing your employer a $125,000 sexual harassment settlement that you were rehired to a temporary $60 per hour gig by that same employer.

Now imagine the employer that hired you back is the town in which your dad, John “Josh” Keenan, is the mayor.

NJ.com reports that is exactly what happened in Stratford.

Stratford is an all Democrat political cartel-controlled town in Camden County. This likely explains why they were smart enough to wait until the council meeting after the election to pull this stunt.

Stratford GOP Chairman Rob Stone immediately took to social media to complain after the council meeting. No press picked up on it, but they did stumble upon a Change.org petition demanding Stratford not hire John Keenan, Jr.

Of course, Mayor Keenan and Council didn’t have the courage to actually face the town’s residents. They made this appointment during the November 10 Council meeting which was held via Zoom.

It’s easy to practice a little blatant nepotism when you don’t have to actually face the voters.

It’s even easier to practice nepotism when you wait until a week after election day to do it.

Never mind that it’s a safe bet the mayor’s son was the only applicant. I’m willing to make that bet because Stone submitted and Open Public Records Act request to find out who the applicants for the position were and received the following response:

Hi Rob,

By Executive Order 26, no public agency shall disclose the resumes, applicants for employment or other information concerning job applicants while a recruitment search is ongoing.

As the recruitment for the permanent Business Administrator is still ongoing, your OPRA Request is hereby denied in accordance with Executive Order 26. If you would like to resubmit your request once a candidate has been selected for the permanent Business Administrator position, you may certainly do so.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

Michaela BoslerActing Borough Clerk/Alt. Deputy Registrar

Borough of Stratford

Nepotism aside, this is the era of #MeToo and #BelieveWomen. Should we not also believe men? Keenan, Jr was accused of sexual harassment. He allegedly would rub the accuser’s shoulders and grab his rear end.

It’s hard to believe any employer would bring back an employee with the accusation of sexual harassment in his past, but that’s exactly what the Borough of Stratford has done.

Keenan, Jr is going to once again be put in a position of authority, even if temporarily. It’s doubtful this would be happening if his daddy wasn’t mayor.

It’s a safe bet there will be more to this story. Stay tuned!

The Cost Of Cumberland County’s $65 Million Floor Appears To Be Increasing

bigstock-Handsome-young-man-throwing-mo-50855615.jpg

Last week we began hearing rumors that Cumberland County was about to get sued “for allegedly backing out of an agreement to build a facility to provide electricity and other utilities for a contemplated new county jail.”

I put it on the back burner because preparing for Thanksgiving and lots of turkey seemed more important. The rumors were confirmed when The Vineland Daily Journal ran with the story on Friday.

Now that I’ve come out of my food coma it’s time to complain about the fact Cumberland County has managed to get itself sued over the $65 million jail that will never be a jail.

The fact that Cumberland County had already borrowed (bonded) $65 million for a new jail, only to cancel the contract after breaking ground and building a floor, on dirt, no walls, no roof, nothing, just a floor did become an issue in the freeholder campaign.

The fact that Freeholder Director Joe Derella claimed cancelling the jail contract (and leasing jail space in other counties) would save money was also brought up during the campaign.

Apparently, voters did not care – they just went ahead and voted for the Democrats who control the freeholder board anyway.

Back when Derella was claiming the county would see savings this blog called him out and asked:

Savings? What savings? You borrowed $65 million. Someone has to pay that back with interest. That someone is the taxpayers of Cumberland County.

And now, here we are with another $6 million possibly being added to the cost of a jail that will never be built, but there is supposed to be a savings.

Even worse, the freeholder board knew this lawsuit was coming since at least September 22. From The Vineland Daily Journal:

The dispute also was not disclosed during the 2020 freeholder board campaign, though the lawsuit states a letter was sent on Sept. 22 to the county giving it 30 days to honor its agreement or face a lawsuit.

This means that if a letter was sent to the county on September 22 giving county government 30 days to make things right, the freeholders knew about this at the October Freeholder Board meeting and did not bother telling the public.

Even worse – and this is completely a guess on my part – no one bothered to share the letter with or tell the only Republican on the board about the lawsuit because knowing Freeholder Doug Albrecht the way I do I am fairly certain he would not have been happy to be told about this. He certainly would have made an issue of it.

To make matters even worse, the Freeholder Board, according to The Vineland Daily Journal, announced they were “re-evaluating its plans to build a new county correctional facility” on July 17 but it appears the Democrats may have decided to cancel the jail project as early as January. According to The Vineland Daily Journal article:

The lawsuit also discloses the first link between cancellation of the “Central Energy Center,” a decision apparently taken in January, and subsequent county decisions to cancel construction already started on a new, $65 million jail and to shrink its existing jail to function as a prisoner holding facility.

Obviously, if the Democrat freeholders were cancelling the project to provide energy to the new jail in January, they were also getting ready to cancel the jail. Why cancel only part of the project? An important part of the project!

I don’t want to call anyone a liar but someone has been doing their best to hide the truth from the taxpayers of Cumberland County.

Back in August when I blogged about the jail I wrote, “There’s going to be more to come on this story. Stay tuned!”

So far it appears the truth has been hidden from the taxpayers and from the only Republican on the Freeholder Board. Definitely, stay tuned, because it’s starting to look like there is going to be a lot more to this story.
