CD2 Action: Fitzherbert, Another Endorsement. Richter Continues To Explore. Grossman Argues With A Reporter.

Sorry for the lack of blogging this week, but I had to overcome the shock of Victoria’s Secret hiring a transgender model.

Men who “identify” as women modeling lingerie or not, politics keeps going and there was some action in CD2, on the Republican side, this week.

Announced candidate Brian Fitzherbert was seen at several National Night Out events and came with another endorsement this week. The Fitzherbert campaign sent out a release earlier in the week announcing the endorsement of Linwood Mayor Richard L. DePamphilis, III. According to the release:

“We need a real leader who is willing to fight for lower taxes, immigration reform and who has the courage of conviction to stand up for the people of New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. We have seen Brian’s leadership ability first-hand as he has worked to help build the Republican Party in Atlantic County and across South Jersey. A principled conservative, Brian will be a leader that will fight for South Jersey in Washington, D.C. That is why I am happy to endorse Brian Fitzherbert for Congress,“ said Mayor DePamphilis.

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of Mayor DePamphilis and I thank him for his service as a Navy Veteran and his commitment to South Jersey as a public servant. Mayor DePamphilis is an inspiration to all Americans who seek to serve our country and communities. I am honored to have his support and look forward to working with him as we fight to win back the 2nd Congressional district,” Fitzherbert said.

We’ve received no reports of the other announced candidate, Robert “Bob” Patterson, doing any campaigning this week. Maybe, the Victoria’s Secret news has him concerned about the lack of “semen-exposed” women. Perhaps I’ll run into him at the Gloucester County GOP’s monthly happy hour tonight.

David Richter, who formed an exploratory committee for CD2, is still exploring, but he was in Hammonton this week where he was given the opportunity to speak to the Hammonton GOP Club.

We did get news that rumored potential candidates John Andrie and John Zarychare out, though there is a rumor someone else may get in, we’re trying to run that down.

Potential candidate, last year’s nominee, Seth Grossman, decided it was a good idea to get into as Twitter fight with Politico reporter Matt Friedman (a few screenshots at the end). It probably wasn’t the smartest idea to get into a fight with a reporter who will likely cover the race if he gets in, but what do I know.

It’s still looking like a CD2 primary could be fun to watch. Stay tuned!

Careful. That Victoria’s Secret Model Might Be Holding Victor’s Secret.

Silk-Lace-Bra.jpg

It happened! Lingerie company Victoria’s Secret has caved! The political correctness police won another round!

The one place where men were actually happy to go shopping with their wives or girlfriends (or in some cases both) has hired its first transgender model.

If you doubt Victoria’s Secret caved to the PC police, just look at the headline on the website Jezebel.com “Transphobic Company Victoria's Secret Suddenly Hires Openly Trans Model.

Transphobic! I didn’t even know that was a word.

Victoria’s Secret, the one retail outlet where men never complained about having to go is now ruined because the lingerie company will now feature at least one model with an Adam’s apple.

The move is a complete reversal of what Ed Razek, told Vogue in November 2018:

It’s like, why doesn’t your show do this? Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us.

Needless to say he took a lot of heat for that statement at the time and apologized.

What folks chose to ignore is that Razek, before the above remark, in the same interview said:

I don’t think we can be all things to all customers. It is a specialty business; it isn’t a department store. I’m always asking myself: If we do that, what is the reason we did it? Why did we include that person? And did we include them to shut up a reporter? Did we include them because it was the right thing to do or because it was the politically correct thing to do? Do they take the place of somebody who worked for a year for the opportunity and cried when they found that they got it? Yeah, we made some fashion mistakes. We were late to the party on bralettes; we were late to the party on downtown influences in our looks.

Razek was right, Victoria’s Secret can’t be all things to all people. Unfortunately, thanks to the PC police, now they’re trying.

They couldn’t leave well enough alone. Might as well change the name to Victor’s Secret.

The company was founded by a man, a heterosexual man who was shopping for his wife in the 1970s. According to Time.com:

The company got its start when businessman Roy Raymond was trying to shop for lingerie for his wife. He’d gone to a department store to make his purchase, only to find himself deeply uncomfortable—and made even more so by saleswomen scrutinizing his presence there. “When I tried to buy lingerie for my wife,” Raymond told Newsweek in 1981, “I was faced with racks of terry-cloth robes and ugly floral-print nylon nightgowns, and I always had the feeling the department-store saleswomen thought I was an unwelcome intruder.” The Stanford MBA grad saw an opportunity in his discomfort and in 1977 borrowed $80,000 to open Victoria’s Secret as a store designed specifically to make men comfortable when buying lingerie for their wives.

Since the company was founded “to make men comfortable when buying lingerie for their wives,” doesn’t it make sense that when looking at models wearing lingerie those models are actual women?

Apparently, Bob and I are not the only people upset by this move. Here is a sample of comments on one of Victoria’s Secret’s Facebook posts:

Maybe, I’m just getting old and am set in my ways, but I was taught you are born male or female. I learned this at an early age and it was confirmed in science class, specifically biology in high school. You know, the class where you had to dissect a frog.

Never in any class were we taught that one could decide what gender one is. There was never a choice.

Maybe it’s me, but I think this political correctness stuff is getting way out of control.

At least Roy Raymond isn’t around to see this, but he’s probably turning in his grave.

Attack Launched In CD2 And It Wasn’t By A Candidate

The other day, after receiving an email from Seth Grossman via Liberty and Prosperity I wrote a little piece titled “Grossman Sounding Like A Candidate.” In that piece, after reminding readers that Bob and I were Grossman “supporters after last year’s congressional primary” I pointed out that he was “wrong on the issue of the party recruiting candidates” for the 2020 primary in CD2.

Here we are, two days later and apparently Steven Rogers of the America Winning Coalition isn’t happy with Grossman.

Rogers took to Twitter to voice his opinion of Grossman’s email:

I called Grossman for comment. Shockingly, he had no comment.

I did call Rogers for comment and left a message at 5:14PM.

So with about 43 weeks to go before primary election day 2020 we have one announced candidate outed for once saying “‘semen-exposed’ women have better cognitive skills,” a potential candidate accusing the party of recruiting two candidates into the race and another announced candidate already coming with a major endorsement.

Some thought last year’s CD2 primary was rough, 2020 is shaping up to make that one look timid.

Stay tuned! I’m sure there’s going to be more.
