Don’t Fall Out Of Your Chairs, But We’re Asking You To Show Some Bipartisan Love

Steve Ayscue

Here at the Bob & Steve Show we have established a tradition of doing what we can to help those who help others.

Helping others is one of those instances where party affiliation means nothing.

Scanning social media we learned Democratic party political campaign guru Steve Ayscue has put out a call to help those in need.

Ayscue wrote in part:

Calling on my Facebook friends to help one of my family’s favorite activities, serving weekly dinner to those in need this Saturday, June 22nd from 1 PM (for set up) to 5:30 PM at Joe’s Place on South Broadway (near Ferry Avenue) in Camden.

How can we not get behind that?

They’re looking for servers and donations. This is something everyone should be able to get behind. Check your politics at the door and pitch in.

I already checked in with Ayscue and told him to put us down for burgers and buns and will deliver them Saturday after the radio show.

If any of our readers and listeners of the Bob & Steve Show can help out then we encourage you to do so. Ayscue has provided us with a contact number so if you want to help please contact us via Facebook Messenger or this website’s contact page. We’ll get you hooked up with the right person.

After Saturday we’ll go back to being partisan and work to get even for a loss or two we may have suffered at the hands of Ayscue.

OPINION: Calling “BS” On Newspaper’s Father’s Day Guest Column On Drivers Licenses

Driver-licence.jpg

Because I am 100% against granting drivers licenses to “undocumented immigrants,” or as I prefer to call them illegal aliens, I read a guest column in the Star Ledger with great interest.

The author of the column, John Jairo, may be a nice guy, I don’t know and frankly, don’t care because I am calling BS on his column.

Jairo opens his column with:

On this Father's Day, I am writing to share my experience living, working, and raising a family without a driver's license. I have three children, two of whom go to Dover public schools, and my eldest daughter goes to the local community college. All three of them have trouble getting to school, urgent appointments, and participating in extracurricular activities because my wife nor I have access to a state-issued driver's license in New Jersey to drive them because of our immigration status.

So, this guy lives in Dover, NJ, a Morris County community. He claims the kids have trouble getting to school. No way! Dover is a whopping 2.73 square miles and has three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. I’m guessing none of the schools are on the very edge of town and his home on the exact opposite edge of town, which means his kids likely walk only half that distance to school, 1.365 miles. That’s a shorter distance than I walked to school! Later in his column Jairo complains many kids have to walk 30 to 40 minutes to school. Boo, hoo. I did it, so can his kids.

As to his child that goes to the community college. The NJ Transit Route 875 bus goes through Dover and to the Community College of Morris.

No! Jairo’s children do not have trouble getting to school.

In his column, Jairo claims he faced death threats in his native Colombia because of how well he was doing. He claims the death threats forced to leave everything behind because of those death threats. All that may be true, but I would think it would have been much easier to run across the Colombian border to Brazil, Ecuador or Peru. Maybe it’s harder to sneak into those countries?

Granted I am assuming this guy snuck into the United States because he started his column stating that he does not have access to a driver’s license due to his immigration status. To me he is stating he is not in the country legally, therefore he should not have access to a license.

Jairo ends his column:

As New Jerseyans are celebrating and honoring fathers, I hope our state can help make access to a driver's licenses a reality for more parents like myself by allowing every qualified resident who can get tested and trained to access a standard driver's license. It is a necessity for thousands of families like mine.

This guy believes “every qualified resident” should be able to get a driver’s license. What he fails to understand is that part of being qualified is being a legal resident. Maybe he should start by doing things the right way and becoming a legal resident.

PRESS RELEASE: Taylor Swift: “Be Like Cory.” “I Think Not,” Says Tricia Flanagan

Announced Republican candidate for 2020 US Senate, Tricia Flanagan, accused US Senator Cory Booker of pandering “when he signed pop star Taylor Swift’s petition supporting the Equality Act.” Her press release on the issue follows:

LAWRENCEVILLE – “Pander, pander, pander, should be the slogan of Cory Booker’s vanity presidential campaign and pandering is exactly what he was doing when he signed pop star Taylor Swift’s petition supporting the Equality Act,” Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, Tricia Flanagan, said.

According to Billboard Cory Booker sent a note to Taylor Swift “thanking her for her efforts” in support of the Equality Act. Swift called on her fans to “be like Cory” in an Instagram post that went viral.

“This is a poorly named bill, there is nothing equal about the Equality Act, of which Senator Booker happens to be a co-sponsor, it goes entirely too far,” Tricia Flanagan said. “Frankly, the Equality Act is an assault on women’s rights.”

“As a mother of three children I don’t want a biological male using the same restroom as one of my daughters, nor do I want a biological female in the locker room with my son after lacrosse practice.” Flanagan continued, “I know of no other mother who wants these things.”

Flanagan added, “The Equality Act is a total assault on Title IX, look at recent news articles where biological males won championships in female athletics. How is that even remotely fair!

Flanagan asked, “What about women’s shelters?

“Barely a year ago nine women in California filed a lawsuit because they say they were forced to shower with a transgender woman who sexually harassed them,” Flanagan remarked.

“From pandering to a pop star to stumping for votes with Governor Murphy despite his dismal track record on women’s rights – from the shoddy conditions the Governor forced on professional women soccer players and burying his head in the sand when faced with allegations of sexual assault of a staffer – it’s no wonder Cory Booker has no problem aggressively supporting legislation that is an assault on the rights of women,” Flanagan said. “Maybe Mr. Booker should stop pandering and while I wait for the pandering to stop, I’ll renew my call for him to end his vanity presidential campaign and come home to discuss the issues important to New Jerseyeans. I’m ready when he is,” Flanagan said.
