Menendez’s Lawyers Argued It Isn’t A Federal Crime To Leave The Country For Sex With Under Aged Hookers. Does He Agree?

The mainstream press that covers New Jersey politics – the same press that has continued to let Governor Phil Murphy off the hook for the horrible treatment of the women on his soccer team – the same press that hasn’t written a word about a guy running for sheriff who allegedly once beat up an inmate (I found the inmate’s phone number, I’m sure they could too) keeps writing about Republican candidate for Senate Bob Hugin’s ads referencing Bob Menendez’s alleged involvement with under aged prostitutes with the word “unproven.”

I am sick of it! Almost as sick of hearing the idiots who believe Menendez was found to be not guilty. A hung jury does not make him innocent.

Maybe Menendez’s alleged involvement with under aged prostitutes is “unproven,” but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

In court papers Menendez’s own lawyers argued messing around with underaged hookers in the Dominican Republic “would hardly be a federal crime even had it been true.”

Copied and pasted directly from the court papers:

The defendants present their case as exceptional because the allegations of underage prostitution are “such easily disprovable allegations about something that would hardly be a federal crime even had it been true.”

“Would hardly be a federal crime even had it been true.”  It is a federal crime to leave the country to have sex with under aged hookers, no matter what Menendez’s lawyers argued.

Menendez has never once said publicly if he agrees with the argument of his lawyers.

And let’s not forget “The Independent,” a British online newspaper once wrote:

The Daily Caller suggested last night that the Washington Post had erred because the prostitute now denying having had sex with the senator was not the prostitute in its original report last year. The Post stood by its reporting.

It appears the Menendez camp couldn’t even find the right hooker to recant the original story.

While it may be accurate for the press to continue to refer to Menendez’s alleged involvement with under aged prostitutes with the word “unproven,” based on his own lawyers’ argument and the reporting of The Independent it is possible the allegations were true.

So, “unproven” or not it appears Menendez still has some explaining to do. He should at least tell voters if he agrees with his lawyers that it is okay to travel to a foreign land to have sex with under aged prostitutes.

PRESS RELEASE: Kilby Hays And Spatola, Jr. Say Issues At The County Jail Fall On The Freeholder Board

Cumberland County GOP freeholder candidates Arvene Kilby Hays and Frank Spatola, Jr. weighed in on the issues at the county jail this morning. Their press release on the matter follows:

Kilby Hays And Spatola, Jr. Say Issues At The County Jail Fall On The Freeholder Board

Maybe it’s time to let the sheriff run the jail

VINELAND – Republican candidates for Cumberland County Freeholder, Arvene Kilby Hays and Frank Spatola, Jr, said today concerns about “labor issues” at the county jail fall on the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

At issue is a recently published report “claiming the jail administration is not honoring the negotiated contract and using unfair labor practices.”

“There’s an obvious solution to any real or perceived problems at the county jail,” Arvene Kilby Hays said. “Let the sheriff run the jail, just like they do in Cape May County and Salem County. Generally speaking, except for election time, it takes the politics out of the jail.”

“It seems to us the fact the health department, the civil service commission and the Department of Justice have all been to the jail that indicates the calls for an ‘independent’ investigation will not yield any new information,” Frank Spatola, Jr. explained. “Independent investigation or not. you don’t see all those agencies parading in and out of the jails in Cape May County or Salem County.”

Spatola. Jr. asked, “What’s different at the jails in those two counties?”

“Obviously, it’s that the sheriffs oversee those jails, not the freeholders,” Spatola said. “Maybe it’s time to follow the lead of Cape May County and Salem County and let the sheriff oversee our jail.”

Senate Candidates Debated Last Night And Bob Menendez Could Only Point To Two “Accomplishments” In 25 Years

Election_Day_Vote_Buttons_2556658.jpg

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez and Republican candidate for Senate Bob Hugin debated last night and the winner was whoever you wanted it to be. Here at The Bob & Steve Show we think Hugin won.

The problem with debates is, generally speaking, the people watching are the supporters of the combatants. The only way to actually win is to cause your opponent to have a complete meltdown. Even if that happens, in this day and age of election seasons, rather than just an election day, debates are held much too late. Debates need to be held earlier, in New Jersey, right before vote-by-mail ballots are sent out would be a good idea.

For me, last night’s debate told me that Bob Menendez has been in Washington, DC since 1993 and his only accomplishment was to bring back millions of dollars after Superstorm Sandy. My dog could have done that!

The fact of the matter is bringing money back after Superstorm Sandy was a group effort. My co-host on The Bob & Steve Show, Bob Greco, distinctly remembers as chairman of the Cumberland GOP, while cleaning the family shore home in Sea Isle City pausing to get on a conference a conference call with Governor Chris Christie and President Barack Obama and the governor making clear how this was a bipartisan effort.

Sure, as The Hill, pointed out, “Menendez repeatedly brought up his work on the Affordable Care Act, noting in his opening statement that he ‘proudly’ authored the health care law.” After a heart attack and my recent stay in the hospital I hate him for that. I’m one of the 20 million self-employed Americans who lost their insurance thanks to Obamacare and am now going to be broke for the rest of my life paying for those hospital stays. Thanks Menendez!

I don’t care what party you belong to. If you spend a quarter of a century in Washington, DC and you can only point to two accomplishments during an hour plus debate, you do not deserve to be re-elected. Period!

With all that said, Republicans need to get in line or we’re going to be stuck with another six years of Bob Menendez as the senior Senator from New Jersey. Too many Republicans, you’ve heard them, are whining about how they can’t vote for Hugin because he isn’t conservative enough.

To those Republicans, I am not going to make my usual arguments, those Republicans don’t listen anyway. Instead, listen to the words of JR Carman of the New Jersey Constitutional Republicans.

JR Carman is a smart guy, he has to be, he works with nukes or something to do with nuclear energy, either way, he’s smarter than me. He’s also very conservative, more conservative than me, and, trust me, my family thinks I’m an ultra right-wing conservative.

Carman, in his role as the founder of the New Jersey Constitutional Republicans, released a video about a week ago in which he talks about the importance of voting Republican to “slow down the Democratic Socialist Party's desire to destroy our Constitutional Republic.”

Watch the video, listen to the words and then go vote Republican, if you have a vote-by-mail ballot due it immediately after watching the video, otherwise get out there on November 6.
